It is always great to have portable diving equipment, especially when you travel or the diving place is a bit away. Exploring underwater world is always great and fascinating, but since the underwater is not our natural habitat, we need to approach it through the means of particular equipment.

Of course the first thing is some kind of protective clothing that a diver should use; regardless of the weather, one will need the protection from any possible harm. If the water is very warm, you can use the skin suit, which can help to protect your skin from cuts that can happen from brushing against corals and rocks.

For thermal protection we use the wet suit; there are long and short arm and leg versions of the suits; also they have different levels of thickness.

The most common material for wet suits is neoprene that allows water flushing through it, and it holds the water against the body. So this keeps the body warm and balances the temperature by protecting the body from cooler water.

There is a suit similar to a wet suit that is called semi-dry suit; the difference from the wet suit is that the semi-dry seals around the neck, wrists and ankles. It allows to ingress trapped water, which in turn warms the body. The protection level is higher compared to a wet suit.

Finally there is a dry suit made for cold water. It does not allow water to ingress, so the body remains dry inside the suit. Also the suit has built-in boots and is sealed around the wrists and neck. These suits are the integral part of the portable diving equipment that you take with you for diving.

The mask is the next thing you need. The purpose behind the mask is to create a pocket of air to provide the ability to see under the water. Usually you will find that a good mask has a silicone seal with a picket/seal for the nose to prevent the diver inadvertently breathing through the nose and sucking in water; it is also designed to protect from underwater pressure, as in the case of scuba diving equipment.

The fins allow a diver to conserve the energy and provide more comfortable and more effortlessly underwater swimming. Fins are large flexible blades that are fitted to the feet, and they give more propulsion through the water.

The fins go into two types: Shoe and strap fins. Shoe fins resemble slippers and fits onto the bare foot, while strap fins pocket foot with a strap that fits around the heel and are used with boots.

These things are basic ones that can be easily used as portable diving equipment, because they usually do not occupy a lot of space and are not that heavy. In addition you may also need: Lead Weights, Cylinders, Buoyancy Compression Device (BCD), Regulators, and some divers even use computer equipment.

All these may sound like a lot of different stuff, yet this all can be considered as portable diving equipment that can be carried to the place of the diving. As in the case of the scuba diving equipment, here some pieces are more necessary than others, but ultimately you might want to use them all. The same applies when you buy snorkeling equipment.

To find the portable diving equipment, you can visit a specialized store, or go to online store. The latter can often be easier and faster in terms of finding, choosing and even buying the needed diving equipment. If you are not sure what to purchase, try to find other customers reviews - they can help a lot to make the right decision.
