Truck Mount Carpet Cleaning Is Professional

There are many ways to clean carpet, but in almost all of them you will need a carpet cleaning equipment. All methods of cleaning are good for something; if you need to clean large quantities or big carpets you should look for truck mount carpet cleaning equipment. Well it is not an advice to buy it; this carpet cleaning machine is available for rent. It can be purchased of course, but usually it is done by carpet cleaning service companies.

We can say that truckmounted steam cleaning is one of the best ways to get your carpets really clean. Since this method is considered to be recommended by the carpet manufacturers, you will not void your carpet warranty using it. This method is often used by experienced carpet cleaners.

The Benefits of Truck Mount Carpet Cleaning Equipment

The basis of this method is known as Hot Water Extraction (HWE). It comes in 2 forms: one is electric powered portable carpet cleaning machines, and another one is Fuel powered truck-mounted machines. The latter use positive displacement vacuum blowers that are able to rinse carpets of large volumes.

Portable devices are hard to be compared with electric truck mount carpet cleaning, since they cannot provide you extreme powerful vacuum suction. They are still good if you have nothing else, but their drawback is that they are too much depended on electricity.

"Truck mounted" means that a carpet cleaning machine is sitting on a truck or inside of a van. Very often it is a standalone unit, which is really powerful and requires nothing more but water connection from client’s residence or business. This truck mount carpet cleaning equipment provides a simultaneous combination of powerful vacuum extraction and hot water / steam injection. Such combination not only allows you to have your carpets professionally cleaned but gets them dry as well.

Another difference between portable and truck mount carpet cleaning is in the water pressure. You will need really high water pressure to have your carpets nicely leaned especially if their volumes are large. Also higher water pressure allows washing off the cleaning solution better. It is important because if some cleaning agent will remain in the carpet after cleaning is finished it may cause the carpet to get dirty again even faster, since it will attract more soil and dirt.

Portable cleaning equipment is capable to produce 125-150 PSI, whereas the carpet cleaning solution must be rinsed off of your carpet at 300-400 PSI. Even used truck mount carpet cleaning machines are able to achieve this. New ones can go as high as 3000 PSI, but it is used only for hard surfaces. High water pressure helps to remove the soil and dirt better.

Carpet cleaning truck mount unit uses more vacuum power than any of the portable devices. Such high vacuum power allows truck mount carpet steam cleaning machines to make the carpet dry in 4-6 hours or even less. Portable carpet cleaning machines do not have such capability; most of them will require overnight to get the carpet completely dry. Of course it is not very convenient to the customer; moreover it can cause stains to wick back up to the surface.

There are gas powered truck mount carpet cleaning machines; they use a "heat exchanger" to heat the water up to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Generally, you will need higher water pressure, hotter water and better vacuum suction if you want some really good overall cleaning.

Truck mount carpet cleaning equipment is great; it gives you the best result over the considerably short time. Also you don't need to worry that your carpet may be damaged during the cleaning process or the work can be done unprofessionally. Thinks of this when you plan to have your carpet cleaned next time.

Thanks for the comment, Clara.

Cost effective??? Yeap, if you need to clean large volumes. Otherwise you can use something like steam cleaner - one of its smaller versions.

I have a bene clene truck mount and We love it. The thing never breaks and uses no gas. Eletric is cheap. Water stays hot all day. customers are happy and I make good money. I don't clean the carpets my self but all seems good to me. And I love the news letter at bene clene.

Truck mounts have more solution pressure and water temperature than you need for carpet cleaning. A truck mount usually has more vacuum pressure than a portable too, but after you run 80' of hose to a truck vs. 16' to portable, you'd be surprised which is better. I think a truck mount is easier to set up for a job, and dragging a hose around is easier than dragging a portable around.

The customer: they don't like their front door open so you can run the truck mount hose; they don't like the noise of the portable inside their house.

Both have advantages, if you're in the business you probably want both, and sell the customer on the right equipment.

I disagree on some othe coments in the article, in our company we use both portables and truck mounted machines, the technology now days allows portables to compete with truckmounts, for example it says avobe that portables are capable of producing 125 to 150 psi, NOT TRUE, our portables are capable to generate from 50 up to 1200 psi wich is good for tile and grout cleaning alsothe come with built in heaters that can produce up to 200 degree temperature on the solution, ON the vacuum the new machines use 2 3-stage vacuum motors that can allow you to use vacuum hoses up to 100 ft, and if you add a booster you canrun up to 150ft Truck mounts are really easy to set up but you have a limitation with the hose lenght some people does not like their door open in the winter time, and if you are cleanong a 40,000 sft building good luck with your truck mount, like I said oth systems are good and they have both advantages and disadvantages so is up to the customer what he wants and what you can do with you equipment I just DON'T like people bashing portables because they are very reliable and do a good job.

I use a portable machine that weights only 23 pounds and produces only 70dbs of sound. I have pulled out stains that truck mounts have left behind, my customers are always amazed and say they have never had their carpets so clean. In cold weather the truck mount guys are always in a rush to finish before their machine freezes up, where as with a portable I can stop and work on stains or move furniture as needed with no worries. I have never had a carpet wick after I cleaned it and my average dry time is 1hour! I would also like to point out that beyond the point that was already made about the suction lost through the long hose on a truck mount, there is also a big difference between the cheapest truck mounts that may just be driven off the van's engine vs a 25HP diesel powered truck mount.....

Hi - Enjoyed your article

I have a small carpet cleaning business in Australia - relatively new in the industry and have been considering upscaling but am still concerned as to how long it would take to get start showing a return if I bought one of these units - I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet so to speak.

Great hub! I believe that if you are strictly in carpet cleaning business, than truck mount is your best bet, but you should also have at least one portable. However if you are in the commercial cleaning business, where you not only do carpets, but also provide other services (thus don't do as much carpet work as carpet cleaning companies), portable works just fine. Also, there are many situations, like big offices or offices on high floors where you just can't use a truck mount.
