Trundle Beds: Good Space Savers For Your Home
65
Trundle beds are quite popular space saving beds, especially in the families with young children who share one room. They are normally safer than bunk beds, since there is no top bunk there. Trundles are good as beds for guests - when the extra bed is not required it will not take any additional space - just pull it back under the main bed, that's all! There are trundles where the trundle unit can be raised to the same level as the main bed. The trundle unit pops up, as they say. And since two twin beds joined together forms a king size mattress, so if you have a pop up trundle bed of a twin size, it can be easily turned into a king size bed.
These beds can be conveniently used by those who do not mind the idea of sleeping closer to the floor. You can also use the trundle bed unit as a storage place - just remove the mattress when the bed is not in use.
Although trundles are very good for kids, they can be effectively used as adult beds; although the majority of these beds are made in twin size, there are other sizes available as well: queen and king size. Yet the trundle unit is primarily of a twin size to make it easy to store it under the main bed.
The most common size of trundle mattresses is the twin size; the thickness of trundle mattress should normally be of 8 inches. For trundles you can get innerspring mattress of the required thickness; the box springs are not necessary for trundles. It is a good idea to check the dimensions and sizes of your trundle unit to make sure the mattress will fit it.
For pop up trundles you need to choose the mattress of the same type. It is required to avoid difference in mattresses when the trundle unit is lifted to the same height as the main bed.
