It is almost an ideal option, but can be useless if you go to the places where there is no electricity or a power source into which they can be plugged.

Manual air mattress pumps are good for travelling especially to the distant places, like wilds and mountains. Of course, manual pump will require some work to inflate an air mattress, but it less depended on such things as electricity, so in this sense it is more universal.

Manual operated pumps for camping air mattresses or any other types of air mattresses can be of two kinds: hand-operated and foot-operated. Those operated by hand usually smaller and require more time to inflate a mattress. Pumps operated by foot are more common, since it is much easier to push the air by foot than by hand. There are pumps that operate in both directions, i.e. you do the normal 'push and release' or 'push and pull' but the air goes into the mattress when you push and when you pull or release. It is much easier to inflate the air mattress - twice easier, to be precise.

Pumps can usually fit too many types of mattresses, but you can find some specific ones like queen air mattress pump, but this is quite rare.
